Jawbone’s new Bluetooth headset called the Icon gets put to the test. Pass or fail?

For a long time, I’ve been looking for a new bluetooth headset. And, I

haven’t been able to part with my Motorola HT820′s. I love the HT820′s

comfort and range but they aren’t your everyday walk-and-talk headset.

Hardware

This super sleek, clean headset is probably the most simple device I’ve ever

used. There’s only one button. After having used it for a while now, I do

wish they would’ve included a volume rockers. However, I’m not sure how that

Home of the Firefly by Li Qiong, Qin Duyin, and Peng Junjie – a truely green design

“Home of the Firefly” is a natural bioluminescence outdoor lamp that is both functional and beautiful.  Designed by Li Qiong, Qin Duyin, and Peng Junjie, the Lamp works by attracting Nature’s Own night lights “Fireflies” who congregate inside the lamp which attracts other fireflies.  I love the idea and know that my daughters who had spent tens of hours catching fireflies with butterfly nets will love them even more.  Now how can we get those Glow Worms to line up and form path lights?

September 1, 2010 – Another Big Day for Apple

September is here, or it will be in a few hours.  In the tech world, September means a number of things, including another big Apple Keynote with what are sure to be some exciting announcements.

Apple was already delivered one of the big announcements when they announced on Tuesday, August 31st that they would be streaming their Keynote event online.  You can access the live stream through Apple’s site (http://www.apple.com), but you must have Apple hardware to view the event.  You can use a Mac running OS X version 10.6 or an iPhone or iPod Touch running iOS 3.0 or higher, or an iPad.

Google Makes Phone Calls Possible Through Gmail

We don’t really make phones calls like we used to.  Nowadays, it seems like people pay a bunch of money for their mobile phones, but use them primarily for apps, surfing the web, texting, accessing social media, and email.

Google sees a way to make talking on the phone easier than ever.  They’ve incorporated their Google Voice service into Gmail as a function of the embedded Google Chat app.  Now, you can quickly and easily dial any of the numbers that you have saved in your Google Contacts or you can use the dial pad to input any other phone number.  Best of all, calls that you make in the US and Canada are free, at least for now.  This reminds me a lot of Skype, but Skype isn’t currently free.

Video Review: Motorola and Verizon Hit it Big With the Droid 2

As many of you know, DViceNews has recently launched our YouTube channel at www.YouTube.com/DViceNews.  Our desire is to use YouTube as a way of entertaining, having some fun, and putting out product reviews that give our readers and viewers the chance to connect visually with some of the newest and most exciting tech products on the market.

With that in mind, it is very fitting that the first two videos we filmed to kick off the channel were an unboxing and now a full video review of the Motorola Droid 2 from Verizon.  Our friends at Verizon were kind enough to provide us with a review model of their newest Android phone.  In short, we were impressed with what we saw.

Pioneer Computers of Australia Unveils “World’s First Dual Core Android ePad”

Apple’s iPad has been out since April of 2010 and the tech world has been waiting for its first real competitor.  We continue to hear about potential Android based tablets but have yet to see anything that can take a serious run at the market share Apple has already carved out for itself.

Well, we had to go looking Down Under, but we might just have found something worthwhile.  Pioneer Computers, headquartered in Australia, is getting ready to release what they are calling “The World’s First Dual Core Android ePad.”  The DreamBook ePad N7 is a dual core, Android based tablet with a 7” WVGA Capacitive touch display with an 800 x 480 resolution.  So what does all of that mean?  It means an Android tablet with a real touchscreen that allows multi-touch just like you’d hope to find on any good touchscreen device.
