John Gruber, Daring Fireball blogger and podcaster most known for his ability to get early information on Apple plans and products, is at it again.
Today, on his blog, Daring Fireball, he wrote a post that was linked to an article written about the soon to release Dell Streak which outlined pricing information. In Gruber’s post, he indicated that the Streak is priced too high and that the iPod Touch is a better deal. He suggests that Apple will release the new iPod Touch in a few weeks and that it will have the same Retina Display as the iPhone 4, including dual, count them, two cameras.
Now, we don’t know that Gruber knows this information for sure, but he is often very close to the mark, which causes us to wonder just how close he might be in his “predictions” this time.
We expect to see an upgraded iPod Touch this go around and it makes sense that they would transfer many of the features from the newest iPhone to the new Touch. That being said, it is highly likely that we will see the enhanced Retina Display that Apple is so proud of, and a front and rear facing camera possibly allowing Touch owners to use FaceTime in Wi-Fi environments. Apple said there would be 10 million FaceTime devices shipped by the end of 2010, so this is definitely a good way to make that happen.
So far, this is all only a rumor, but it would be great news for anyone in the market to buy a new enhanced iPod type device.
