Xbox Kinect hack is the worlds coolest interactive puppet prototype

An installation prototype Emily Gobeille and  Theo Watson put together with the libfreenect Kinect drivers and ofxKinect.  The system is doing skeleton tracking on the arm and determining where the shoulder, elbow, and wrist is, using it to control the movement and posture of the giant funky bird!  Imagine all of the creative applications in entertainment and education.   Amazing  work Theo and Emily,  please pitch the concept to games makers.  If Jim Henson’s Muppets become available in a game, I’ll be the first one to buy it.

Speed project – made in a day using openFrameworks and libFreenect.

iOS 4 IS HERE!

At about noon CST, Apple released the iOS 4 upgrade for iPhone 3G, 3Gs and iPod 2nd and 3rd generation owners.  In order to obtain the new OS, you need to plug in your phone to iTunes 9.2, click on the name of your phone in the left side panel, and then click the upgrade button under the Version heading on that main screen.

After that you can track your progress on the downloads area of the Store section on the left hand side of your iTunes application.

iTunes 9.2 Released to Make Way for iOS 4 and the New iPhone

Apple released the latest update to their iTunes software, version 9.2 on Wednesday. Generally, we wouldn’t take the time to write about a software update, but this update is a little bit special. iTunes 9.2 is the update that will allow iTunes to sync with the new iOS 4, scheduled to release next week on Monday the 21st of June.

iOS 4 is the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad operating system that will allow iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4 users to use multitasking, folders, better mail integration, iBooks, and many other features.  Apple made their iPhone OS 4.0 announcement back in April and then renamed the OS to iOS 4, to allow for the fact that it doesn’t only run on the iPhone, a couple of weeks ago.

Hulu to Offer a Subscription Service in 2010

In case you aren’t familiar, Hulu is a pretty popular source for television shows online.  They make the most recent five episodes of a TV show available to view within a day or two after the original network broadcast.  Their service is currently free, but it is limited to just the five most recent episodes of a show.

Hulu is looking to test out the subscription service market, as early as May of this year, by offering the back catalogue of shows, that’s all available shows beyond the most recent five, for $10 per month.
