Verizon Motorola Droid 2 product review

Motorola’s Droid 2 is one of the first Android phones to ship with Froyo 2.2 pre-loaded and is a noticeably improved version of the original Droid.  It’s the best phone with a keyboard out there at the time of this review and can be compared to a Droid X minus the keyboard and a smaller screen.  A 3.7 inch 854×480 TFT LCD capacitive touch screen, 1-GHz TI OMAP processor nearly double the original Droid’s 550MHz processor.  The phone comes with 8GB of internal memory and an 8GB microSD Card, expandable up to 32GB.  Changing the microSD card requires first taking out the battery which was a little inconvenient.  Network coverage in the areas tested was excellent, over the course of 2 weeks, I did not have a single dropped call

Coveroo Brings Custom Look to Mobile Devices

Device customization is a big deal these days. It used to be that when you wanted to show your individuality you’d do so through your wardrobe, maybe custom tweaks to your vehicle, but now it’s most commonly done by the way you deck out your phone or other mobile gadgets.

If this is true for you, then Coveroo might just have the solution for you. In the interest of full disclosure, Coveroo was kind enough to provide us with one free trip through their customization process and they let us keep the case that we customized so we could review it (see image near the end of the post), and come back to all of you to provide you with our perspective.

Google Makes Phone Calls Possible Through Gmail

We don’t really make phones calls like we used to.  Nowadays, it seems like people pay a bunch of money for their mobile phones, but use them primarily for apps, surfing the web, texting, accessing social media, and email.

Google sees a way to make talking on the phone easier than ever.  They’ve incorporated their Google Voice service into Gmail as a function of the embedded Google Chat app.  Now, you can quickly and easily dial any of the numbers that you have saved in your Google Contacts or you can use the dial pad to input any other phone number.  Best of all, calls that you make in the US and Canada are free, at least for now.  This reminds me a lot of Skype, but Skype isn’t currently free.

Video Review: Motorola and Verizon Hit it Big With the Droid 2

As many of you know, DViceNews has recently launched our YouTube channel at www.YouTube.com/DViceNews.  Our desire is to use YouTube as a way of entertaining, having some fun, and putting out product reviews that give our readers and viewers the chance to connect visually with some of the newest and most exciting tech products on the market.

With that in mind, it is very fitting that the first two videos we filmed to kick off the channel were an unboxing and now a full video review of the Motorola Droid 2 from Verizon.  Our friends at Verizon were kind enough to provide us with a review model of their newest Android phone.  In short, we were impressed with what we saw.
