Dell showed off their latest and perhaps greatest new gadget at Intel’s Developer Forum 2010 in San Francisco. What started as a tablet presentation turned into a notebook show, but the same device was used in both cases.
How’d they manage that, you might ask. As Dell’s presenter was up on stage, he was showing off the capabilities of a new 10” tablet device. Near what appeared to be the end of presentation, he pulled a Steve Jobs maneuver with a sort of “one more thing” type of a transition. He picked up the tablet and transformed it into a full notebook right before our eyes.
The name of the device is the Dell Inspiron Duo. The aptly named piece of tech has a 10.1” screen that flips within the frame of the device to allow for tablet or notebook use. The Duo runs a 1.5 GHz Dual Core Atom processor and has Windows 7 Premium as the OS. Due to the OS, it makes sense that we’ll see 2GB of RAM, but there are very few additional details about the device. It is very likely that we’ll hear more soon.
The Dell Inspiron Duo is expected to be available before the end of the year for consumer purchase. No pricing information is available to share just yet, however. Stay tuned, as we will bring you more information just as soon as we have it.
Would you be more willing to purchase a tablet device if you had the option to convert it to a laptop for ease of typing and more office related work? Please leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
