Being a tech geek frequently goes hand in hand with being a big fan of Sci-Fi. Sci-Fi fans are often Star Wars fanatics. Today, Star Wars fanatics have reason to rejoice. On Tuesday, Lucasfilm Ltd. announced that Star Wars is coming back to Theaters in 2012, but this time with a little twist.
So what’s the twist? Well, if you were paying attention to the title of article, then you already know. Star Wars is coming back to theaters in 3D. Starting with Episode I, The Phantom Menace, the full line of Star Wars movies will be available to see in all of their glory, in theaters in full 3D. Imagine seeing the pod race in 3D, or the fight with Darth Maul on Naboo. Think about the images from your youth, such as the Rebel attack on the Death Star in Episode IV, or Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader battling it out on Bespin in Episode V or again on the Death Star 2 in Episode VI. We’ll get to see all of this, but this time in 3D.
I’m personally not a big fan of 3D movies, but you gotta admit, Star Wars was created to be viewed in 3D. Right? I’m looking forward to this. So the question is, why wait until 2012? Well, the guys at ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) are overseeing the transition from 2D to 3D and they want it to be just right. They will be taking their time to make it the best it can be. They expect it will take a while to get it done to George Lucas’ specifications.
So there you go, all you Star Wars fans out there have something to look forward to yet again. Share the news with all your friends and family, and may the Force be with you!
