New Mobile Market Share Numbers Are In Showing Google Is On the Rise

The newest ComScore numbers arrived late last week and the results might be considered a little surprising. While everyone knows that Android is taking the mobile space by storm in recent months, I don’t know that anyone expected to see Apple lose market share around the release of their newest iPhone.

But, lose they did… ComScore shows Apple lost 1.3%, RIM dropped 1.8% and Microsoft dove 2.2%. Conversely, Android showed a 5% increase in total market share during the month of July. The final player, Palm, showed neither an increase or a decrease as they stayed exactly even.

Samsung Galaxy Tab is Creating Excitement

Last week, Samsung unveiled their newest baby, the Samsung Galaxy Tab.  It’s patterned after their Galaxy line of Mobile phone devices, but it’s a 7” touchscreen tablet with a TFT capacitive touch display rocking a 600 x 1024 resolution.  Their announcement came at the IFA conference in Berlin and the buzz has gone nonstop since that time.

There are now rumors that Samsung might be putting on a US press conference to introduce the device near the end of next week.  Not sure this is necessary, as we all know just about all we need to know about this device.  The bottom line is that I want one and this thing has the real chance of rivaling the iPad.  It actually brings to the table, some options that the iPad doesn’t yet.

Mashable and Bloomberg Report the iPhone Will be at Verizon in 2011

Yet another iPhone at Verizon rumor has surfaced, and true to their usual form, Mashable jumps on the rumor immediately.  This particular rumor is among the most prevalent that can be found in the tech world.  So I’m wondering, how many times do you get to report on a rumor that continues to surface but never comes to reality, before you start to lose face?

Pre Orders Sell Out Initial Batch of iPhones. Pre Order Ship Dates Moved Back

Even after all of the reservation system problems with AT&T on Tuesday, iPhone 4 pre order sales exceeded expectations. The initial batch of iPhones for pre orders have sold out as Apple estimates it has already pre sold over 600,000 units.

Apple.com moved their estimated “ship by” date back to July 2, 2010 on Wednesday morning, but as the day moved on, they moved the “ship by” date again and it now shows expected ship by dates of July 14, 2010.

AT&T reported to Gizmodo that due to the high level of interest in the iPhone 4, Tuesday was the busiest day of online sales in the history of the carrier.

iPhone 4 Pre order Day is Plagued by Misfortune.

What’s the deal with new phone launches lately?  The last couple of major phone releases have been full of problems and frustrations for consumers.

When Sprint launched the HTC EVO 4G on June 4th, the Sprint registration system was overwhelmed at points and many customers were turned away.  Although this didn’t appear to have an impact on sales, as Sprint oversold production, it was definitely a difficult customer experience and not something that Sprint or HTC wanted to deal with.

114,000 iPad Email Addresses Obtained Through AT&T Security Breach – FBI Investigating

Earlier this week, 114,000 email addresses were obtained from iPad owners by a white hat hacker group known as Goatse Security.  These email addresses were found due to a security breach on AT&T’s network.  Reportedly, the breach only impacted iPad 3G owners and was not a problem for those who own the WiFi version of the iPad.

Email addresses were able to be obtained by the group when they went to an AT&T website and began entering integrated circuit card identifier (ICC-ID) numbers which are   unique numbers that correspond with each iPad SIM card.  These numbers are how AT&T identifies each of their customers.  The group just started entering random numbers over and over and were rewarded with email addresses in return.

AT&T Announces Data Plan Changes and Service Additions

Image provided by A&T

AT&T doesn’t necessarily have the best reputation as a service provider since it took on the iPhone a few years ago.  The amount of data passing through the AT&T network as a result of the iPhone itself is staggering and can at times bring the network to its knees.  Although there have been some improvements in the quality of the service in recent months, there is still a large outcry for additional service enhancements.
