Ahhhh, the web is alive with the sound of Froyo. At least it is if you’re a Droid X owner. The long awaited updated is almost here and we’ve received confirmation that tomorrow, Wednesday the 22nd, is the big day.

If you still don’t believe us, and quite frankly we can’t say we blame you for as long as it’s taken, just do a search on the internets and you’ll see post after post after post detailing Verizon’s acknowledgement that Droid X is getting Froyo starting tomorrow.

Droid X Getting Android 2.2?

Has the long awaited Froyo update finally arrived for Motorola Droid X owners? The on again off again rumor mill has been saying so for going on three months now, but still nothing. Motorola and Verizon said we could expect the upgrade by the end of summer, which is now only days away.

The page on droiddoes.com looks like a formal announcement for the Droid X release of Froyo. Unlike other information that appears to have been leaked, this page is open to the public and contains a link to another informational page within the Verizon owned Droid Does site.

Video Review: Motorola and Verizon Hit it Big With the Droid 2

As many of you know, DViceNews has recently launched our YouTube channel at www.YouTube.com/DViceNews.  Our desire is to use YouTube as a way of entertaining, having some fun, and putting out product reviews that give our readers and viewers the chance to connect visually with some of the newest and most exciting tech products on the market.

With that in mind, it is very fitting that the first two videos we filmed to kick off the channel were an unboxing and now a full video review of the Motorola Droid 2 from Verizon.  Our friends at Verizon were kind enough to provide us with a review model of their newest Android phone.  In short, we were impressed with what we saw.

Our Take on Google’s Voice Actions for Android 2.2

By now, many of you have probably already heard that Google has launched Voice Actions for Android 2.2 users.  The voice actions feature allows you to interact with your phone using your voice to get the information you need in a way that used to require you to type, tap and search through your phone’s browser, contacts, map application or email.

More Froyo News: Droid Incredible is Next

Google and US mobile phone carriers have been rolling out Froyo rather quickly in the last couple of weeks.  There have been announcements about the Droid, the EVO 4G, the Nexus One, and the Droid 2, which shipped with the upgrade already installed.   We are expecting to see the Droid X get the update soon and then many other devices are set to follow in the weeks and months to come.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 18th, you should be able to add the Verizon’s Droid Incredible to the list.  Updates should be pushed over the air.  We’re not entirely clear if all Incredible owners will receive the update at the same time or if Verizon will push the update to smaller groups at a time.

Google Chrome to Phone Makes Sharing Content Between Google Devices Easy

We know that many of our readers are Android fans and that due to all of the recent good and bad news for Apple, we haven’t posted as much about Android as we should have.  In recent weeks, we’ve been making a greater effort to do so, and Google has been giving us plenty of good material to talk about.

Most recently, Google has created a new extension for Google Chrome that makes sharing content between your Chrome browser and your Android device extremely easy.  The extension is called Chrome to phone and it is very simple to use.  It is only compatible with Android 2.2, Froyo, at this time, but with Google changes and updates to other, older versions of Android are always possible.

Motorola Droid X to Get Froyo in September

Motorola has sent word that the new Droid X at Verizon is scheduled to get Android 2.2 (Froyo) in early September of 2010.

The Droid X is Motorola’s most recently launched super phone.  It was released at Verizon on July 15th.  The consensus is that this is among the most powerful if not the most powerful phone on the market right now.  It has a 1GHz processor, a 4.3” high resolution display, 8GB of built in memory and is preloaded with a 16GB MicroSD card, expandable to 32GB for a total of 40GB of memory.  It currently comes equipped with Android 2.1 (Éclair), which while snappy in its own right, is significantly slower than Froyo.

Mass Froyo Updates Rumored for Next Week

Potential good news for all you Android users out there.  It appears we might be on the verge of a mass rollout of Froyo, Google’s Android 2.2 OS release, as early as next week for some models.

This has long been rumored, but many are suggesting that it has now been confirmed that the original Motorola Droid from Verizon and the recently launched Sprint HTC Evo 4G will be the first two to receive the over the air update.
